Wilcox on Westbrook

Chris Wilcox said rookie Russell Westbrook’s development will take some time. But Wilcox said Westbrook’s debut was encouraging. The point guard finished with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes.

"He’s a (shooting) guard playing the point position,” Wilcox said. "That’s a tough situation for him, but he’s coming out and playing hard. Every day, night in and night out he has to get better in practice. But it’s his rookie year...I think he’s going to be a great player. He’s just got to slow down a little bit and I think he’ll be all right.”
