Here’s what Thunder players had to say today about the soon-to-be newest member of the team, forward Caron Butler, who on Friday morning agreed to join the club following his buyout from Milwaukee.
"Tough, tough. That’s why they call him ‘Tuff Juice,’ I guess. He just plays hard. From what I’ve seen, he’s a team-first guy. That’s about it."
ON WHAT HE COULD BRING "Just his shot-making. I seen a game where he made seven 3s this year. He had 38 another game. So he can put it up with the best of ‘em. He’s just a long, strong defender. He could do a lot for us."
“I like his game. I think he can do a lot of things. He can shoot the ball from 3. He’s a natural scorer, and I think he’s a tough, physical guy. So I’ve liked his game over the years, for sure."
ON WHAT KIND OF DIMENSION BUTLER COULD ADD "Well, until he’s here, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to talk too much about it. But, like I said, I’ve always respected his game. I think he’s a guy that could help a lot of teams in the league. If we get him, I think it’ll be an added plus. But I know things aren’t done until they’re done. So we’ll go from there, I guess."
"He’s a good player. I’ve had the chance to play against him quite a bit so he’s a very good player."
WHAT STANDS OUT ABOUT HIS SKILLS
"He’s a physical guy. Capable of putting it on the floor. Bringing some points. A big, big body for his position."
ON IF THE THUNDER NEEDED TO MAKE A MOVE
"I always believe in what we have. But, definitely, I trust Sam (Presti) and his judgment and coach and his judgment. So that’s on them. And I definitely will be happy with whoever they bring in."
