On the opening day of Thunder training camp, Earl Watson, Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Chris Wilcox and Nick Collison played together on the Blue team, forming what could be the team's opening night starting lineup. Thunder coach P.J. Carlesimo, however, warned not to read into the group's assembly, saying the lineups are likely to change daily and that he wanted to put the returning players together on the first day.

Russell Westbrook, the team's No. 4 overall pick, joined fellow newcomers Desmond Mason and Joe Smith in addition to returning players Damien Wilkins and Johan Petro on the White team.

Rookies D.J. White and Kyle Weaver played with center Robert Swift and training camp invitees John Lucas, Derrick Byars and Chris Alexander on what would be the equivalent of the third string Red team.
