Time for mothers to take responsibility for their actions

Nancy Berry (Your Views, Sept. 23) expresses the views of many people, questioning why someone would have more children they can't afford. It's a shame that lawmakers don't share this view. It makes me wonder if anyone in authority pays attention to these views.

Like Berry, after reading “Food aid benefits will be reduced” (News, Sept. 19), I wondered why the fathers of these children aren't paying child support. There must come a time when mothers of illegitimate children take responsibility for their actions.
