*March 29, 2009: Oklahoma shoots 2-of-19 from 3-point range in a 72-60 NCAA Regional final loss to North Carolina. The Sooners finish 30-6.

*April 3, 2009: Capel agrees to a contract extension, saying, “OU is not a steppingstone job. It's a really, really good job.”

*June 24, 2009: OU regents approve Capel's 43 percent pay raise, boosting his annual compensation to $1.5 million.

*January 2010: Capel bars Sooner players from the locker room and from wearing any Oklahoma gear. Said Willie Warren: “He's taken the locker room away from us because we're not playing like an Oklahoma team, so we don't deserve to be in the Oklahoma locker room.”

*January 9, 2010: The one-game suspensions of Steven Pledger and Andrew Fitzgerald for shoplifting leaves reserve Kyle Hardrick as the only player among the Sooners' five freshman who hasn't faced disciplinary action.

*March 10, 2010: OU ends the season with a nine-game losing streak and an 81-67 loss to Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament. It marks their first losing season in 29 years.

*March 18, 2010: TMZ.com reports OU freshman forward Tiny Gallon accepted a $3,000 wire transfer in August 2009 from a Tampa-based Merrill Lynch financial adviser who works with several professional athletes as a financial planner.

*March 22, 2010: Freshman point guard Tommy Mason-Griffin, a third-team All-Big 12 player, announces he is turning pro on his Facebook page. “On a mission,” he wrote. “It's an officialdat i am leavin skool and enterin draft. ... i aint doin anotha yr.”

*April 7, 2010: Sophomore guard Willie Warren decides to leave early for the NBA despite his sagging pro stock.

*April 8, 2010: Assistant coach and top OU recruiter Oronde Taliaferro resigns.

*April 14, 2010: Center Orlando Allen announces he will not return to the team for his senior season. Allen, who said he planned to graduate earlier to support his family with a young child, becomes the fourth underclassmen to leave the Sooner program since the season ended.

*April 16, 2010: Speaking publicly for the first time since the season ended, Capel says, “Sometimes, in order to get better, you have to cleanse. ... For a lot of people, it may look doom and gloom, but for me it's exciting.”

*April 20, 2010: Tiny Gallon declares for the NBA Draft, becoming the third McDonald's All-American in a month to leave the program early.

*April 30, 2010: An investigation by The Oklahoman and Tulsa World reveals former Oklahoma assistant basketball coach Oronde Taliaferro exchanged at least 41 phone calls and 25 text messages over a 10-month period with a Tampa financial adviser, who reportedly wired $3,000 into the bank account of former OU forward Tiny Gallon.

*November 24, 2010: Oklahoma falls 68-64 to NCAA Division II school Chaminade at the Maui Invitational.

*March 2, 2011: Sooners lose eighth straight, 84-58 at Texas Tech.

*March 10, 2011: Oklahoma finishes 14-18 with a 74-54 loss to Texas in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament. It's the Sooners' first back-to-back losing seasons since 1967.

*March 14, 2011: Oklahoma fires Capel.
