Tisdale paved the way
Blake Griffin is not the first OU basketball star to forsake the NBA for an extra year as a Sooner. Wayman Tisdale did the same thing.
Tisdale left OU in 1985 with a season of eligibility remaining, but in May 1984, Tisdale announced at a Lloyd Noble Center press conference that he was returning for his junior season. Tisdale would have been a high draft pick after his sophomore season.
