Title IX proudly on national stage

Mr. Monday doesn’t write near enough about Little Miss Monday, the 4-year-old princess of Mr. Monday headquarters.

But it was hard not to think about her on Sunday night.

While 8-year-old rascal Junior Monday gets most of the pub (and staged newspaper photos), it’s the Little Miss who’s made of sugar and spice and everything nice.

So it was only appropriate that she was dancing around in her Beauty and the Beast nightgown in the final seconds of the OU women’s Final Four game, while Daddy was screaming his head off about the Sooners’ final 3-point attempt.

(Really, no layup? Really?)

So what do a cute kid and the meltdown of the OU women have to do with one another?

Simply, equality.

Now, Mr. Monday has used this space quite often to prop up women’s sports, especially the Women’s College World Series (spring is in the air!) and throw the occasional brick bat at the critical cavemen who don’t like the women’s game.

But for a moment in Mr. Monday’s living room on Sunday night, it all fell together.
