Celebrate the coming season of giving at Toast for Coats, a wine tasting event to benefit Christmas Connection Friday, Sept. 28 at Oak Tree Country Club.

The evening includes fabulous food, a wide array of wines for your enjoyment, live and silent auctions, a wine pull, raffles for a new phone and a wine tour, games and more.

The event chairman for the second year is Justin Rush, who is also a member of the board of directors. Co-chair is Nicole Hover.

For more than 30 years, Christmas Connection has been providing clothing, shoes, new toys, coats, gifts, books and more to families living in poverty. Organized as a seasonal charity, the nonprofit expanded to year-'round operations in 2004.

The signature Christmas Shopping Days program continues to bring Christmas to families who would otherwise not be able to provide the memories and experience for their children.

The fastest growing program at Christmas Connection is now School Connections, which provides school uniforms to children who have no other resources.

In 2011, more than 10,900 people were served through all programs at Christmas Connection. Families are screened for eligibility and referred by partner agencies. The mission of Christmas Connection has always been to treat those in need with dignity and respect while allowing them to personally select items to meet their needs in a welcoming department store atmosphere.
