This is the next to last column I'll be writing for this newspaper. In August, I'll be leaving Oklahoma for new responsibilities and opportunities in Ohio, making this one of life's bittersweet moments for me.
As a fourth generation Oklahoman, I've lived most of my life and professional career in this state. I am fortunate to have been with I2E from the early days.
The organization has grown into a nationally and internationally recognized force in the business of building a regional innovation economy and job growth through entrepreneurship.
I've resisted writing directly about the amazing people who make up the i2E team. But now, I want to publicly thank these men and women for their dedication, creativity and energy in the service of Oklahoma's entrepreneurs.
The Governor's Cup Business Plan Competition, a robust portfolio of venture funds that span the continuum of capital, SeedStep Angels, venture advisers and our partnership with OCAST providing small business innovations research services are all great things that i2E's staff, board, and partners have accomplished.
My experience at i2E is the stuff that dreams are made of. I was part of the founding team; I've been through the rough spots and the celebrations.
I've engaged with hundreds of Oklahoma's hardworking and innovative entrepreneurs through i2E's advisory services and hundreds more of our brightest college and university students through the Governor's Cup.
