Oklahoma State football: Top receiver recruit Laquon Treadwell chooses Ole Miss over OSU

“I took my time in this process, so I could make the right choice for myself,” Treadwell said before ducking behind a podium and emerging wearing a while Ole Miss hat. “And so as a result, there was one school that developed a great relationship with my mom and myself, and I enjoyed the players and the university.”

Treadwell will make his decision official on National Signing Day on Feb. 6.

Ole Miss had been viewed as the favorite to nab Treadwell for months, but his final official visit was to OSU last weekend. He also got an in-home visit from Cowboy coach Mike Gundy and wide receivers coach Kasey Dunn Monday night.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze, as well as wide receivers coach Grant Heard and co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach Wesley McGriff, visited Treadwell Tuesday.

Treadwell also made an official visit to Oklahoma last month.

As a senior, Treadwell amassed more than 1,400 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns while leading Crete-Monee to an undefeated season and its first state championship.

At Ole Miss, Treadwell will be a part of the Rebels' rebuilding effort in the SEC, which is widely regarded as the toughest conference in the country. He'll also reunite with former high school teammate Anthony Standifer, a freshman defensive back for the Rebels this past season. The nation's top overall recruit, defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, is also an Ole Miss target.
