Not everything that arrives through the mail, email, or by phone is negative.

There actually are those who have good things to say about efforts made to improve our streets and highways, as well as relating to other forms of transportation.

All comments get a reading or a hearing.

We don't have to agree, but communication is important.

You've seen a pretty fair share of complaints the past many years, and there certainly will be many more.

As I've said before, longtime colleague (and former boss) Frank Boggs always said: “The readers always write.”

But while the weather's hot, I thought it might be a good idea to pick a couple of “cool” comments I have received to share with you.

No sense being hot under the collar on this trip.

So here are a couple of pats on the back that are well deserved:

Some time back, I wrote you asking for status on the (proposed) new intersection at I-40 and Morgan Road. You advised that things were finally moving and construction would start imminently. It did start, and now we have the new intersection completed and operational. I would like to compliment the highway department for the innovative design of this marvelous new intersection. In addition, compliments to the contractor who developed and implemented a spectacular construction process. The construction proceeded for more than a year with absolutely no major obstructions to traffic flow. A job well done.
