If you've ever driven in a hard rain or thick fog, you know why.

I can remember instances where the fog was so thick that the only way I could hope to continue on was to keep between the lines on the edge and on the center of the highway while slowing down somewhat and trying to be aware of brake lights or taillights ahead of me and headlights behind me.

I have seen curbing, on medians in fact, marked with reflective paint.

One in particular that I remember had diagonal white stripes. It caught my attention.

I also like the small, blinking yellow lights on the roadway such as in school zones. Those really catch your eye.

There have been and will continue to be other methods and devices to get drivers to pay attention. Watch for them.

By the way ...

So how about a little fun homework?

If you've seen a traffic safety device recently that caught your attention, send me an email, drop me a line, or call me.

Particularly if they are local sightings.

Other readers will be informed and our traffic experts will see how much attention these items are getting.

Enjoy your week and drive safely.
