Then, there was the construction downtown, due to the disassembly and removal of the old Interstate 40 Crosstown Expressway.

It wasn't all that bad when I just decided not to think about it but rather follow the detour and alternate route signs. In fact, we got to see a couple of streets we hadn't traveled in years — unintentionally, of course.

After we picked up Sydney, we drove to the restaurant and found that we were OK timewise for meeting our friends.

Unfortunately, we were running short on time before Sydney had to be home. She and I drove (actually, she drove, which she does often now that she has a permit) to her house before I went back to the restaurant.

At closing time, we were all heading home when I made the (wrong) turn in the parking lot. Our friends headed one way, we the other. So, I wove through the lot, then followed them out.

You're probably thinking, “He got lost in a parking lot?” No, I don't get lost. I just went where I didn't intend to go. But you know what? I did see a couple of stores in the strip mall that I didn't know were there.

And I DID get us back to where we were going ... eventually.

By the way ...

I don't think Becky is buying that I INTENDED to go that way in the parking lot.

But just in case, don't tell her any different, please. It's a guy thing.

Enjoy your week and drive safely.
