MOORE — With Interstate 35 backing up in both directions Wednesday morning, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper asked the public to avoid areas around tornado damage.

Trooper Betsy Randolph said traffic has been in tie-ups all morning along I-35 around Moore. Interstate 240 also has been bottlenecked during the morning. Reports of slow traffic and delays have been made on Interstate 44, the H.E. Bailey Turnpike, in southwest parts of the city.

“It's very congested,” Randolph said. “Too many people are trying to look at the damage. Please ask your readers to divert from I-35 if possible.”

According to Oklahoma City police reports, traffic on Shields Boulevard also is congested.
