NEW YORK (AP) — The derailment of a non-passenger train is causing delays and cancellations on the Long Island Rail Road.

LIRR says the train derailed in Long Island City Wednesday, blocking the Long Island City Rail Yard where many diesel trains are stored.

The railroad says riders on the Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches should expect cancellations and delays. LIRR says those riders should travel to Penn Station, Woodside or Jamaica for eastbound service.
