McAlester training gives volunteers ammunition over wildfires

McALESTER — Firefighters from all over Oklahoma gathered in McAlester over the weekend to hone their skills battling one of nature’s most destructive forces — wildfires.

The Ninth Bob Smith Wildland Roundup brought together firefighters from about 90 fire departments for classroom instruction and hands-on training in fighting all sorts of blazes.

More than 400 firefighters attended the week...
