It finally seems safe to say that spring is here and winter has shed its last flake. It’s time to shed those layers of clothing, and get your hair and skin back into shape to be showcased.
If, like many, your skin and hair are beaten, dry and chapped from winter, don’t lose hope. With a little tender loving care, your skin and hair will come bursting back to life, just like the beautiful perennials that blossom each spring.
Inside are 10 products I’ve tried, tested and recommend to rejuvenate your hair and skin.
1. Loreal Paris Revitalift Moisture Blur, Walmart, $19.97.
Why I love it: This moisturizer really does what it says it does — blurs pores, wrinkles and laughlines while leaving your skin so smooth, you’ll be tempted to use it all over. Mix it with your favorite BB cream (tinted beauty balm), or use it as a moisturizer under foundation. (It also takes years off the backs of your hands!)
2.Fekkai PRx Mending Elixir, www.fekkai.com, $25.
Why I love it: This decadent oil smells as wonderful as it feels in your hair. Crafted with argan oil, this elixer works miracles on dry ends and flyaway hair. It smooths and perfects long hair, mending delicate color-treated hair and leaving it with a healthy sheen. The elegant bottle features a dropper that dispenses the perfect amount of product.
3. MitoQ Power Antioxidant Rejuvenation, www.mitoQ.com, $119.
Why I love it: This quick-absorbing face lotion is infused with CoQ10, which, according to the website, is a co-enzyme, a functional molecule present in every cell in the body and one of nature’s perfect antioxidants. After a few weeks of use, you’ll notice your skin is smoother, sun damage is less noticeable, and fine lines are reduced. It’s refreshing, unscented and comes in a modern, easy-to-use pump. MitoQ is pricey, but it’s a splurge your skin will drink up.
4. Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana, 2.5 ounce eau de Parfum spray, Macy’s, $112.
Why I love it: This scent is a perfect choice for spring, with its mix of florals counterbalanced by warm musky notes, accentuated with light woodsy and earthy tones. The bright fragrance is a statement of both elegant and exotic femininity, represented by the rare species of white amarylis found in the Fynbos region of South Africa. The exquisite bottle is reminiscent of a vintage fragrance flacon.
5. Jane Iredale Dot the I makeup remover swabs, Jon Ric Medical Spa, 1129 E 33rd St., Edmond, $11 to $12.
Why I love them: These clever little swabs are perfectly shaped to remove that stubborn mascara and eyeliner regular cleansers leave behind. Just snap one end of the swab in half and the remover magically flows to the other end. Quite gentle, the first ingredient listed is cucumber, followed by a host of other earthy ingredients, including aloe, oat extract and honeysuckle. The packaging is convenient and made from 98 percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.
6. Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant, vanilla blackberry, www.lavanila.com, $14.
Why I love it: This deodorant just feels healthy. With essential oils of blackberry blended with raspberry and vanilla, the scent is light and lovely. With no aluminum, paraben, propylene glycol or any other harsh chemicals, even people with sensitive skin will love its effective protection.
7. Alba Botanica Good & Clean Gentle Acne Wash, Target, $8.99.
Why I love it: This acne cleanser is gentle and feels great on your skin. It foams up and gets deep into pores, with a refreshing scent and a little tingle on your skin. With active ingredients, including 10 AHA-rich botanicals, the “Fruit Acid Detox Fusion” combines with salicylic acid and willow bark, leaving skin feeling clean and refreshed.
8. Amarte ExfoliPowder, sold at AmarteSkinCare.com and DermStore.com, $35.
Why I love it: This plant- and seed-based product is activated when you add water. It’s not as gritty as some exfoliants, making it a product you can use daily without fear of irritation. It contains antioxidants pine extract, arbutin and genistein as well as a pearl powder that creates a light sheen.
9. Suave Keratin Infusion Heat Defense Leave-in Conditioner, Walgreens, $3.49.
Why I love it: With no shortage of heat defense leave-in conditioning products, Suave’s Keratin-infused conditioner is an impressive option at a very low price. With humidity comes frizz for many, and this lightweight formula, applied to damp or dry hair, can protect your hair from heat from your blow dryer and the sun, while smoothing flyaways and conditioning from within.
10. Loreal Paris Boost It Volume Inject Mousse, $4.99, Ulta.
Why I love it: For fine, thin or lifeless hair, here is hope in a bottle. This volume-boosting mousse is light, nonsticky and can double the amplitude of your coif. Also try Boost It High Lift Creation Spray and Blow Out HeatSpray for maximum control and fullness.
