MUSKOGEE (AP) — The murder trial has begun for an Oklahoma man charged in a deadly shooting outside of Arrowhead Mall in Muskogee.
Dondray Fowler is charged with one count of first-degree murder and five counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon in the April 10, 2010, shooting that killed a 17-year-old and wounded five others.
According to the Muskogee Phoenix (http://is.gd/W9zs4t), prosecutors claim that Fowler shot the man intentionally because of a gang dispute. District Attorney Larry Moore said in opening statements Thursday that mall security footage will prove the shooting was intentional.
But defense attorneys say Fowler opened fire in self-defense because he feared for his life.
