Trout fishing at the Dolese Youth Park Pond, 5105 NW 50, will begin a month earlier this season.

The trout season will open Sunday (Dec. 1) and run through Feb. 28. In previous years, the season didn’t open until Jan. 1.

Approximately, 3,800 pounds of rainbow trout will be stocked in the pond for anglers during the 13-week season, including 800 pounds by opening day.

Trout also will be added to the pond during the weeks of Dec. 9 and 23, Jan. 6 and 20 and Feb. 3 and 18.

Unless exempt, trout anglers between the ages of 16 and 62 must have a city fishing permit and state fishing license.

Daily fishing permits are $3.50. Annual city fishing permits are $18.50. Boats and fisherman floats are not allowed on the pond.

A free clinic on trout fishing will be held at 7 p.m. in the Putnam City gymnasium on Jan. 10.

Anglers may use only one rod and reel and the daily limit is six trout. For more information, call the H.B. Parsons Fish Hatchery at 755-4014.
