As Season Six of “True Blood” begins, Bill (Stephen Moyer) is working on discovering exactly what he’s gotten himself into as his reincarnated self, the contention between humans and vampires has reached a new level, and Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) team up to thwart their parents’ killer, the ancient vampire Warlow.
Fans will also learn what happens with Luna (Janina Gavankar) after her jaw-dropping television appearance in the Season 5 finale, Alcide (Joe Manganiello) begins his new role as pack master, and Arlene (Carrie Preston) reads Andy (Chris Bauer) the riot act in order to get him to start helping raise his own children – who continue to be as surprising as their unexpected birth was to their father.
Joining the cast this season are Rutger Hauer, Arliss Howard, Rob Kazinsky, Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Amelia Rose-Blaire; and “Bill” himself, Stephen Moyer, directed the first episode.
“True Blood” is a series that can always be counted on to be unpredictable, so I’m looking forward to seeing where this season’s plot lines are headed, particularly Bill’s and Sookie’s separate stories, although I still have a difficult time not seeing them together as a couple.
I always enjoy the authentic and fun brother and sister scenes with Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Sookie, so I’m also glad they’re in a story line together.
Warlow looks to be a formidable foe, and I’m sure there’ll be lots in store for Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Sam (Sam Trammell) and the rest of the “True Blood” crew.
“True Blood” debuts its sixth season at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16, on HBO.
