A former patient of a dentist who could have exposed at least 7,000 patients to HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C filed a medical negligence lawsuit Monday.

It is the first lawsuit filed against Dr. W. Scott Harrington since officials announced late last month that his offices might have exposed patients to the blood-borne diseases through unsanitary equipment and poor infection-control procedures.

As of Monday afternoon, about 2,100 former patients had been tested at a free clinic offered by the Tulsa City-County Health Department. The clinic will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the North Regional Health and Wellness Center, 5635 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
