A man told police that a woman he met at a strip club Thursday attacked him later in the morning, leading him to strike her with a machete before smashing her head "to put her out of her misery," an arrest report says.

Joshua Andrew Reynolds, 21, was jailed on one complaint of first-degree murder in the death of Melissa Lemery, 20.

Reynolds told police that Lemery tried to steal from him when they arrived at his residence and that he confronted her, which led to a struggle over the machete, according to his arrest report. When he saw that she was injured, he "grabbed a nearby cinder block and dropped it on her head," the report states.
