Tulsa mayor gives CPR to man in restaurant

The Tulsa World reports that one day after administering CPR to a man at a downtown restaurant, Mayor Dewey Bartlett encouraged city councilors and citizens alike on Thursday to learn the life-saving technique.

“I think it is very important that we really realize that we owe it to not only ourselves and to our families but to our fellow Tulsans that we take advantage of the great training that is available at the Red Cross, …” Bartlett said, “because you never know when you might be that person lying flat on your back, looking up, hoping that somebody that is looking down at you knows CPR.”

Bartlett told councilors during their Thursday night meeting that the man had had a heart attack and later died at a hospital.
