The gun used in a murder-suicide that ended with the deaths of a woman and her teenage son on Tuesday was purchased by the mother just hours before the shootings, Tulsa Police Department Sgt. Dave Walker said.
Police found the bodies of Joseph Crabtree, 17, and his mother, Kimberly Crabtree, 50, inside their home at 2215 S. Delaware Place about 4 p.m. Tuesday. A note was found in the house, and it appeared that the two had formed a suicide pact, Walker said.
He said police believe that Joseph Crabtree shot his mother and then turned the gun on himself.
Kimberly Crabtree had two younger children, 8-year-old fraternal twins who have stayed on the East Coast for at least the past few months, neighbor Brigid Kelley said.
