The death of a Tulsa man in his apartment in June was not suspicious despite a Dallas media report claiming foul play could be involved, the Tulsa Police Department announced Wednesday.

The Dallas Voice, an LGBT-oriented website, published an article Tuesday stating that Benny Longoria, 40, was found dead and naked in his Tulsa apartment on June 20. Longoria, who was gay and was HIV positive, was cremated, and no autopsy was performed, according to the article.

Among other allegations, the publication claimed that Tulsa police homicide detective Sgt. Dave Walker refused to fully investigate Longoria’s death and that Walker hung up on people seeking more information as to how and why he died.

The online story has been widely circulated through social media, and Tulsa Police Department and the Tulsa World have been inundated with requests for information about how the death was investigated.
