Tuttle hunter's big buck and video has created a national stir

The buck in question is a 185-class, 19-pointer that Cocannouer killed in Grady County on Oct. 8.

Cocannouer started seeing the monster buck on his family's land on trail cameras in early September.

Because of the path the deer always traveled, Cocannouer skipped hunting the first week of archery season, waiting on a day when the wind would be coming from the right direction before climbing up in his tree stand.

Cocannouer is a firefighter in Moore and part of the staff of Fired Up Outdoors, a local television show that airs on KSBI-TV, which is comprised mostly of firefighters in the Oklahoma City area.

They video their hunting and fishing adventures and began posted them on the Internet. That evolved last summer into a local television show called Fired Up Outdoors on KSBI-TV.

Cocannouer's hunting partner, Trent Wood, also a Moore fireman, tagged along on Oct. 8 to shoot video of the hunt.

Sure enough, the big buck's pattern was predictable. Cocannouer got a shot that day and hit the animal with an arrow from his compound bow.

He telephoned a friend and then his father to tell them the news and wait for the buck to go lay down.

He was about to climb down from the tree stand and search for a blood trail when a bachelor group of seven whitetails appeared in the clearing.

Cocannouer had his eye on shooting a 9-pointer when Wood told him to wait, that a monster buck had just emerged by a cedar tree.
