Twins Ruben, Jose Campos have conflicting allegiances for Thunder-Mavericks series

— Twin brothers Ruben and Jose Campos are identical, right down to their thin chin strap beards.

But on Tuesday night, there was one big difference between the two.

Ruben wore a Thunder jersey.

Jose wore a Mavericks T-shirt.

Despite their conflicting allegiances during the Western Conference Finals, the brothers sat side by side for Game 1 at American Airlines Center. There was no fighting. There was no yelling.

Except for their respective teams.

“He can root for his team,” Jose said before the game, “and I'll root for my team.”

Ruben said, “It's going to be great.”

Here's guessing Jose had a little more fun Tuesday night than Ruben did.

Mavericks 121, Thunder 112.

On a night when these Red River rivals tipped off their playoff series, there were a couple hundred Thunder fans among the blue-clad Mavericks faithful. With only three hours drive separating the two cities, plenty of fans are bound to infiltrate foreign soil for games.

Tuesday night in Dallas, there were Thunder fans from Moore and Edmond. There were folks in “Fear the Beard” shirts and Kevin Durant jerseys.

Then there were the Campos brothers, who didn't come from out of state but rather from across the metroplex in Fort Worth. Jose has been a longtime Mavs fan, while Ruben has been a longtime Durant fan.
