EDMOND — Two teenage girls were injured when the stolen pickup they were in overturned near Interstate 35 and Danforth Road, police said.
The 15- and 16-year-old girls from Ardmore were taken to an Oklahoma City hospital. They were alert and conscious after the 10:45 p.m. Thursday crash, said Jennifer Monroe, Edmond police spokeswoman.
They are expected to be arrested later, Monroe said.
An Edmond police officer tried to stop the pickup near E 33rd Street and Bryant Avenue, Monroe said.
The driver would not stop and police stopped pursuing the pickup on I-35 at Second Street after they ran past stop sticks, Monroe said.
The pickup driver sped north and the interstate was blocked by two tractor-trailers. The driver tried to pass on the shoulder and the pickup overturned near Danforth, Monroe said.
