Two people were charged with unlawful cultivation after jars and syringes containing hallucinogenic mushrooms were found in a northwest Oklahoma City apartment.

Matthew Emmett Hanna, 22, and Kelsey Lee Cantwell, 22, were charged Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court with felony unlawful cultivation of a controlled dangerous substance.

On March 11, police served a search warrant at an apartment at 3228 W Memorial Road. During the search, 47 glass jars containing psilocybin mushroom spores in various stages of growth were found, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Also found were 11 syringes containing various strains of psychedelic mushroom species, two large containers with growing spores and a book on cultivating “medical mushrooms,” the affidavit states.

Neither had been booked into the Oklahoma County jail by Wednesday afternoon, jailers said.

Hanna has a prior felony conviction on a charge of maintaining a dwelling where a controlled dangerous substance is kept or sold, the affidavit states.
