Two children die in Oklahoma train-car collision

Hailey Marie Benham, 9, and Hannah Daniel Benham, 6, of Nowata, OK, died Monday after their mother's vehicle was struck by a train, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Two children died Monday afternoon after a train struck their mother's vehicle, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

The wreck happened about 3:15 p.m. on County Road 28 just east of U.S. 169, four miles south of Nowata.

Natalie M. Benham, 28, failed to yield at a railroad crossing and her car was hit by a Union Pacific train, troopers said.

Her two daughters, Hailey Marie Benham, 9, and Hannah Daniel Benham, 6, both died at the scene of the wreck.

Natalie Benham was taken to a Tulsa hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, troopers said.
