A child and a 70-year-old man died Sunday in separate wrecks on state roads, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Name not released, 10, Colbert

A 10-year-old girl died about 3:25 p.m. in a wreck on a Bryan County road one mile east and three and a half miles south of Colbert, troopers said. The girl was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle driven by a 13-year-old boy, whose name also was not released.

Two other juveniles were in the car, which was speeding northbound when it ran off the road, overcorrected and rolled. No one in the car was wearing a seat belt. The girl was thrown from the SUV, which landed on top of her, troopers said.

The driver, a 13-year-old passenger and an 11-year-old passenger also were injured, but none of the injuries were life threatening, troopers said.

Jones pulled his car out of a private driveway about 7:40 a.m. onto U.S. 60 in front of a tractor-trailer. Jones was attempting to turn left onto the highway when the westbound tractor-trailer, driven by Earnest Monday, 47, of Coffeyville, hit the driver's side of Jones' car, troopers said. Monday was not injured.

Jones, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene just east of Elk Lodge Drive, troopers said. has disabled the comments for this article.
