Two firefighters became ill Saturday while fighting a fire that destroyed a Grand Lake boat business, Rick Bronson, Cowskin Fire Department president, said.

The firefighters were from Wyandotte and Cowskin Fire Departments. They both were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released, Bronson said.

Crews stayed for more than 10 hours containing the fire at the 20,000-square-foot Frankie’s Marine Sales and Repair Shop, which is north of the Cowskin Bridge on State Highway 10.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the state fire marshal’s office was notified, Bronson said. About 70 people from 15 agencies worked the fire, he said.

Frankie’s Marine was established in 1993, according to the businesses website.
