About 1:40 a.m., driver Shane Watie, 19, of Keota and passenger David Star, 19, of Cowlington were eastbound in the car north of Keota when it lost control and struck several trees in a ditch before coming to rest back on the road, the patrol said. Both died at the scene.

Troopers said all three other passengers were thrown from the car. Latonna Leyva, 18, of Ada, was taken to an Arkansas hospital in critical condition. Jessica Feldmeier, 19, of Keota and Robert Hurt II, 17, of Ada were taken to a Stigler hospital in stable condition.

All but Star were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
