Two Midwest City High School students accused of setting a third student's hair on fire during school have been charged with first-degree arson, court records show.

Kayleigh Dawn Wagaman and Kaila Lynn Stowe were charged as youthful offenders Monday in Oklahoma County District Court. Both are 15 years old.

They are accused of setting a third student's hair on fire with a cigarette lighter the morning of Jan. 8 in the school's commons area during a class activity, according to a probable cause affidavit filed at the court.

Stowe told the school police officer she got the lighter from another student and lit strands of hair hanging down the girl's neck. A large portion of the girl's hair then caught fire, according to the affidavit.

Wagaman told the officer that she took out her lighter and lit it behind the girl “to freak her out,” the affidavit states.

The girls can both be seen on school surveillance video standing behind the victim and lighting her hair on fire, the affidavit states.

The girls had not been arrested as of Tuesday evening, Midwest City police said. has disabled the comments for this article.
