Flu claims 2 more lives
Two more Oklahomans have died from the flu, the state Health Department confirmed Thursday. Since late September, 53 Oklahoma residents have died from the flu, and 1,231 have been hospitalized because of the contagious respiratory illness. Nationwide, flu activity is decreasing in the United States but remains slightly elevated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Flu season in Oklahoma generally begins in late September or early October and runs until late April or early May. Over the past few weeks, flu activity has continued to decrease in Oklahoma, although public health officials say the season will continue for the next several weeks.
