A man and his girlfriend were shot to death when they fled authorities trying to serve the man two burglary warrants, officials said Wednesday.

Christopher Lee Stout, 23, and Stacie Stout, 20, were killed during the confrontation that began at a southeast Oklahoma City motel, according to Oklahoma City police.

Capt. Dexter Nelson said the two were dating, but were not related or married despite sharing a last name.

One officer suffered minor injuries, Nelson said.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Metro Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve two felony burglary warrants on Stout about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at a motel near Interstate 35 and SE 44.

Stout and his girlfriend tried to flee in a pickup, Nelson said. At least one law enforcement vehicle collided with the pickup before officers began shooting, he said.

Nelson said more details will emerge following an investigation by Oklahoma City homicide detectives, but that could take some time.
