U. of Tulsa kicker to pursue pro baseball career

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — University of Tulsa kicker Cole Way is leaving the Golden Hurricane football team to pursue a career in professional baseball.

TU head coach Bill Blankenship announced Way's decision on Monday.

Way is a left-handed pitcher who was drafted in the 38th round by the Kansas City Royals in the recent Major League Baseball draft. He last pitched when he was a senior at Union High School in 2010.

Way played for TU for three seasons. He punted as a freshman and sophomore and averaged 38.7 yards per kick. He handled kickoff duties as a junior last season and had 33 touchbacks among his 55 kicks.
