WASHINGTON — In 2007, Oklahoma state Sen. Andrew Rice voted against a bill aimed at prohibiting most abortions at hospitals that get state money.

A television ad being aired by U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe's reelection campaign says Rice voted “for taxpayer-funded abortions.”
Rice, a Democrat who is running against the Republican incumbent, also voted against a bill last year that would have eliminated the state franchise tax for businesses owing less than $250 and accelerated cuts in the state income tax rate.
Inhofe's ad says Rice voted for tax increases.
In his own campaign ad, Rice calls Inhofe's assertions “negative attacks” and says they are wrong. But Inhofe's campaign manager said Rice is trying to split hairs.
The campaign ad war in the U.S. Senate race in Oklahoma has turned decidedly negative as the Nov. 4 election nears.
Recent polls have shown Inhofe, R-Tulsa, with a big lead over the freshman state senator, and Inhofe said earlier this year that Democrats had failed to find a “top-tier” Democrat to run against him.
But in a year when Democrats are expected to pick up seats in Congress, Inhofe has begun to treat Rice as a serious threat. He has tagged him with the “L” word, calling him a liberal whose beliefs are out of touch with Oklahoma.
In his recent anti-Rice ads, Inhofe's campaign shows a photo of Rice alongside a photo of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and a wedding cake ornament featuring two male figures while a voice-over says Rice opposed Oklahoma's constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.
Rice did work against that amendment. As the founder of a group called the Progressive Alliance Foundation, Rice in 2004 raised money for an effort to keep the question off the state ballot.
Inhofe ad called ‘misleading'Tres Savage, a spokesman for the Rice campaign, said last week that Inhofe's tax increase ad is “deliberately misleading.”
“The truth is that Senator Rice has never voted for tax increases,” Savage said. “In fact, he has voted for tax cuts, including the accelerated repeal of the death tax, and he authored legislation to provide tax cuts to Oklahoma families who care for their aging parents in their homes.”
Inhofe's campaign manager, Josh Kivett, said, “Senator Rice's campaign can try and split hairs all they want, but his votes highlighted by our advertisement would have meant less money in the pockets of Oklahoma families and small businesses.”
Regarding the abortion bill, Savage said, “Senator Rice has never voted for taxpayer-funded abortions ... On the vote in question, Senator Rice stood with Governor Henry who vetoed the legislation because it seriously compromised the quality of health care for poor women and families throughout Oklahoma.”
But Kivett said the intent of the bill was clear _ to prevent public money from being used for abortions.
Rice ad attacks Inhofe
Rice's most recent television ad portrays Inhofe as one who mindlessly follows his party despite the consequences.
In the ad, Rice cites Inhofe's record, compiled by Congressional Quarterly, of voting more than 90 percent of the time with the majority of Senate Republicans.
In the same ad, Rice criticizes three votes by Inhofe:
Inhofe voted in 2003 against an amendment that would have dedicated $322 million to safety equipment for U.S. troops in Iraq and taken the money from funds committed to reconstruction of Iraq; the amendment failed on a mostly party-line vote when Republicans controlled the Senate.
Kivett, said that vote was a “political distraction” that was actually aimed at derailing Iraq reconstruction. He said Inhofe voted for a spending bill that “provided our troops vitally needed equipment.”
Inhofe voted in 2005 for a wide-ranging energy bill that included a major tax break for the largest oil companies by making them eligible for the manufacturing tax deduction. The bill passed the Senate 85-12. The Rice ad characterizes the vote as support for tax breaks for “big oil.”
Kivett said the 2005 energy bill was supported by a strong bipartisan majority and included provisions “important to Oklahoma's oil and gas industry, along with others to promote wind power and nuclear energy.”
Inhofe voted in 2005 against an amendment to repeal tax subsidies for certain domestic companies that move manufacturing operations and jobs out of the United States; the amendment failed on a party line vote when Republicans controlled the Senate.
Kivett said the amendment would have resulted in tax increases for the companies affected.

thinking and stop voting for your party, and vote for the person and what they represent.I think AMERICANS who want CHANGE.. so badly should listen to all the twisted media, twisted stories about each running catadate, whether governern ,senate, president and
LOOSE THE PARTY.. gain the strenght of combined educated and studied people and VOTE accordly. If everyone ,,,,,who is educated and has studied and who intends to vote..would TRUELY remove the title and vote..
There is where the shake up in WASHINGTON will happen.
Weve come a long way and the GREEED OF REP AND FREE HANDOUTS FROM THE DEMOCRATES have steared us TO THE EDGE.......VOTE WITH GOD and have FAITH
OFF TOPIC: Have you ever noticed that polling entities consider demographics and regularly report which candidates will likely receive the majority of votes in regard to particular segments of the American voting population? For example, which ticket is the Jewish community likely to support...and the Catholic...the Hispanics.....so on and so forth. ____In today's America, undeniably, there exists a vast number of Muslims. _____Why do you suppose it is that no one ever offers a report in regard to which candidate is most likely to receive the Islamic vote? ____If such an analysis is being made, why do you suppose it is that the media chooses to ignore this large block of American voters? After all, it would seem to be a significant part of the election equation.
This election is simple for me. Inhofe has been in public office for over THIRTY (30) YEARS...he has been getting a government check for over 30 years! He is so out of touch with what most of us deal with every day. The only thing Inhofe is interested in is keeping his government paycheck. The republicans have controlled the White House for the past EIGHT years and they have controlled the US Congress for SIX of the past eight years and oh what a mess they have made. Our economy is crumbling. Gas prices are at all time highs, home forclosures are at all time highs, jobs are being shipped overseas by the hundreds of thousands and the list goes on and on. Come on Oklahoma, quit falling for the crap the republicans keep dishing out - they are playing us like a two dollar fiddle. Inhofe and the rest of the far right wing of the republican party will do their best to label Rice a "liberal" and hope that we jsut ignore the fact that they have been at the helm while our economy has been run into the ground. Look at Inhofes ads, all he does is use the "L" word - when is the last time you have heard Inhofe say or do anything at all about the economy. Quit falling for this crap. It is time for change and it is sure as heck time to send the career politicians packing. Inhofe has lost touch with reality and he has absolutely lost his way. Rice is a fine Christian man and he truly wants to do great things for our great state and our country. Vote for change and elect Rice to the US Senate.
Post Note: I am not a part of a far right movement. I am not reactionary in my political stance. However, I am a Christian. I have no desire to imply otherwise. Christians are diverse in regard to political choices. Many support McCain/Palin. Many support Obama/Biden. _____ Fortunately, this is still a nation in which we are free to form our own thoughts and opinions. I feel quite sure that we would all rue that day, if it should come, that we could no longer enjoy the right to exercise that freedom. ____ May God Bless America!
and....Darren....I believe that you are disoriented in regard to the dynamics of the Democratic Party and as distorted and inaccurate in your assessment of those mentioned,no matter from which party. It is not sad. It is not funny. It is not laughable._____ I didn't plan to respond to you, but I don't take your implication in regard to my honesty lightly or well. It seems to me that you are quite subjective in your thinking. That undermines so much of what you say.______Perhaps if this were chess, we could call our inability to meet on a common ground a stalemate. To be fair, I offer this: Perhaps there are those I mentioned who may not deserve to be described as being "extreme," but who, nonetheless, are veering far to the left of center....and the result earns them the label of being "a liberal"...not simply, just being liberal. However, there are surely some of those who do deserve to be described as "extreme." ___ Obviously, Darren, I am more committed to my country than to a political party. I understand where my allegiance should be and I am willing and able to cross party lines when need be. This is one of those times. I will never support an ideology which is counter to the fundamentals upon which this nation was founded. I do not consider the Constitution to be a "living" document, per se. I believe that it is an instrument which has enabled this nation and allowed its people the right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ...and as none other. I believe that our Constitution and all principles and mandates contained within are to be defended...I want Supreme Court Justices who interpret the law, but do not legislate. Legislation is clearly NOT the responsibility of our Judicial Branch of government. _____ You may not agree with me on that issue. So be it! However, I have as much right to my beliefs and opinions as you do. You may not find mine worthy. I may not find yours worthy. Even so, the Constitution grants each the right to hold our individual viewpoints and to speak out about what we believe. I am exercising my right. You are exercising yours. I believe in the greatness of this nation. I will continue to vote for those whom I believe will always put this nation before themselves or their political party. I will never give my allegiance to a person or a party above my country. I admire those who are willing to sacrifice for this nation...our troops, past, present and future and others who have taken giant leaps seeking to do what they believed was in the best interest and was for the good of us all. For example....Joe Lieberman...who stood up for what he believed to be right in spite of the dictates of his political party. It cost him....but he put what he believed to be the best interest of his country first....that is what allegiance to one's country is all about.______Of the candidates we have to choose from, it seems quite clear to me that McCain/Palin represent the best hope for our nation and the best hope for each of us as we pursue our God given right to life, liberty and happiness. Many agree with my choice. You do not...many others agree with your decision. ____I am not a part of the group liberal Democrats love to hate, Darren. However, you and others loathe me anyway because I do not agree with the direction the Democratic party is taking. That is one of the things I find unacceptable about today's Democrats....there seems to be within that body a passion ...but not a passion of good will and brotherly love, but one of hatefulness and scorn against those who do not agree with them...there is a tone of ridicule and insult. Like it or not...Admit it or not...many of your own posts are testimony to that very thing! I cannot embrace that kind of attitude. Such an air of superiority and arrogance is too often a by-product of far too many in the Democratic party and it is not attractive. Anyway, I find it repelling. The negativity, I realize is not specific to all, but is a general behavior that stretches across the party. As such, it reflects negatively upon the lot...especially since the media joins in and seeks to tip the scales with an attitude of arrogance and a lack of objectivity. That's wrong. The media should not be shaping minds. _____ You want to talk about issues....I could speak on individual issues...but this post is much too long. I certainly have my opinions on the issues and know where the candidates stand on the ones I deem most important. This post is simply too long. ___ A recap: For the record, again, I find the prevailing behavior and rigidity of many Democrats and those in positions of power unacceptable. It is so obvious the Democratic Party has stooped to new lows and no longer is representative of those Democrats who once represented the ideals, hopes and dreams of Americans. Whether the DNC and people like you understand and accept it, the GOP is now the party which is most likely to bring those standards to fruition. The media has moved beyond objectivity, as well....and it has been putting out propaganda which you (and others) have obviously ingested for a very long time. It is possible that its tremendous bias and indoctrination has been satisfactorily absorbed and Senator Obama will win this election. But, I hope not. __ BTW, Darren, I am not the politically ignorant person you perceive me to be. If you only knew how wrong you are in that regard...perhaps you might realize just how laughable your own imagination!
Obama will be 120% better than what we have now. Maybe he willbe a good leader during the Depression that the Bush Bunch is creating. When the Bush Bunch splits up that 700 billion they will all be living high on the hog and the rest of us will be in the soup line. Way to go Republicans.
Darren on Obama pt2...one of Obama's friends (Spike Lee) who they AGREE 100% on everything....mentioned that when Obama gets in they will no longer refer to the white house as the white house, but the black house (or may be he mentioned chocolate...can't remember now). In other words...they are for change all right....WRONG TYPE OF CHANGE! Bunch of racist PIGS! With all the improvements we have made in this Country, HE WILL TURN BACK THE CLOCK! He is running for ALL the wrong reasons! He has writtem more books than laws! No experience!! ZIP! NADA! He has one thing running for him...he can speak. Well, Hitler was able to speak too, and look what happened there!
Darren on Obama...he is a sleeze bag you twit. He is racist! He proves it every time he opens his mouth. It is race biting NOT baiting you freaking terd...if I wanted to say baiting, I would have. He chomps at every turn to pull the race card! He believes in the Church he came from, and it is RACIST! They took down their creed from their website that PROVED they were racist. That type of religion is racist! Fact he is un-american is all you have to do is look at http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/091708dnspomavslede.112d818.html ... 'The Star-Spangled Banner' is going on. I don't celebrate this [expletive]. I'm black." Howard goes on to make a difficult-to-discern comment that includes a reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama...which isn't hard to figure out what he stated....HE IS WHAT HE IS JUST LIKE OBAMA! Meaning, he has the same views...UNPATRIOTIC! Obama is a dirtbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
V - your post on Sep 22, 2008 9:49 AM....I'm an idiot? You are the fool that will go on feelings instead of FACT. I've provided the facts, and you the reason why we need to bring back qualifications to vote!!!
Darren, Columbia: You are so dumb founded that you are not reading the posts correctly. I am behind Obama for change. Read the correct post dummy. Also if you are voting Obama just because he is black then you are as stupid as all of the others that don't understand what your privilege to vote means. We don't need idiots voting at this point. Our country is in a crisis. We need to vote for the person that will work for us, the citizens of this country, and get us out of this mess. Stupid people like you don't even understand that this country is broke and we could very well go into a depresson if we don't vote the right people into office at this point. If your vote is only for a black man then you are an idiot. People in this country are going to learn how to take care of themselves over the next few years. People who are living off of our government are in for a rude awakening when the welfare and medicare stops. You go ahead and vote for the guy because he is black idiot. I will vote for him because he is the one for some kind of a change (good or bad) not for racial reasons. If Obama wins this election he will walk in an office with no funds to work with. If I were him I would run away and hide because he would be taking on a position that no one can repair. America at this point is broke and maybe a depression is what is needed for the spoiled people in this country to get their heads out their butts and start working for a living.
It's fine that you call yourself a Democrat, but the notion that Joe Lieberman is "liberal" simply shows you don't know the meaning of the word, or have no grasp of the political spectrum. Joe Lieberman is a conservative, not a liberal, and Hillary Clinton is a moderate. I would never, ever vote for Lieberman because of his dispicable attacks against Obama and the Party that supported him for years. I've always been a fan of his, and am nausiated by how he's stabbed us in the back. It's horrifying and immoral.
I was absolutely in agreement with you on Hillary, she was the best candidate of the Democrats, but Obama's far superior of the two choices we now have.
And there's nothing at all that should bother you conscience about voting straight ticket, I think MOST people should. If they voted as they should, on the ISSUES, they'd vote for one party or the other. I believe in public schools and decent health care for all people, in fair taxation and opportunity for the poor to work their way up, including unions. I believe in protecting the environment, and in civil rights and equality. Why would I vote for a Republican just because he "seems like a good guy" or she comes across well in TV ads? My votes about far more than that, and it goes for Democrats.
There's nothing wrong with having differing opinions, I think it's fantastic. But it's a tired and weak old stunt of the right to label EVERYONE who is a Democrat with the L-word, and it's inappropriate, inaccurate, wrong, and foolish. It's absolutely laughable to call people like Harry Reid liberal at all, much less "extremely liberal," and you managed to top that with the absurdity of all time, calling the conservative Joe Lieberman "liberal." He just isn't. You seem to think that holding remotely progressive views on ANYTHING makes you a liberal. It IS a scare tactic, a cheap and dishonest one. If you can point to any actual ISSUES or votes they've taken you disagree with, I'm all ears and will agree or disagree. But slinging dishonest labels, a label that hate radio has turned into poison, at people it does NOT belong on cannot be defended.
As for the rumor, it's a joke. It's absolutely never, ever going to happen, not in a million years, it comes from the same sleaze factory that is still telling people Obama's a Muslim OR from someone fantasizing and going "wow, what would happen if" and someone turning that into a rumor. It's absolutely impossible. IF Biden dropped out, a one in a million shot, Hillary Clinton is so far down on the list of possibilities her name won't even enter the discussion seriously. I'd love it if she were in office, but it's just not going to happen.
I don't know where in the planet you got the absurd idea that McCain would vote more of a Democrat than not, but it's just plain false. That you call yourself a Democrat, yet repeat numerous falsehoods that come from the radical right tells me that either you're horribly misled and not getting information from a decent source, or you're just a DINO. No real Democrat could vote for McCain. I REALLY want to know what "Democratic" issue stances you think McCain will take. He's wrong on taxes and the economy, wrong on health care, wrong on civil rights, wrong on environment, wrong on judiciary and will GUT our supreme court, wrong on women's issues and choice, wrong on guns, wrong on unions and workers' issues, I want to know where on earth you get the idea he's more Democrat? The ONLY people saying this are the far, far right...the EXACT same people pushing the absurd lie that Harry Reid and Joe Lieberman, conservative to moderate Democrats, are "far left" or "extreme left."
What's very, very sad to me is that it's possible...unlikely, to me, but possible...that you truly believe every word of this. If EVER there was a more glaring example of how desperately we need Fairness Doctrine, this is it, a guy who is so desperately poorly informed, whose ideas ALL come from radical right hate radio.
And the worst news of all? There is NO member of our legislature, Senate or House, WORSE on this issue than John McCain, who is a sworn enemy of Fairness, who parrots the hogwash about "liberal media" like the finest dittoheads, who would cheerfully defund CPB and NEA and who fully supports the inexcusable giveaway of billions worth of PUBLIC resources to millionaires in this scam of HD Television. Yes, McCain is more moderate than the worst of the radical right on a few issues (sadly, the one I could most easily think of on which he USED to hold a semi-reasonable position, immigration reform, he flip-flopped and now supports the far right's racist policies towards immigration reform and English Only and all that junk) but on the vital issue of broadcasting reform and Fairness Doctrine, there is nobody worse, not a single one. Combine that with the radical religious right views of Palin and we get a truly noxious combination of the worst of the religious right and the worst of Bush incompetence. I've yet to find a single Democrat who can give a good reason for voting for the man, with the exception of a few who are so taken with his personal story of valor (which I greatly respect myself) that they've chosen to ignore the issues entirely. It's a rotten way to vote, but at least it's a reason. I'm still looking for yours.
You can babble about moving to the far left, but the fact is the far left in this country is absolutely disgusted with the Democratic Party and while Obama is a step up for them they disliked Kerry and deeply loathed Clinton and Gore. If you want to talk about the real far left, look at people supporting Nader. The Democrats are NOT moving to the far left at all. On the other hand, Palin's nomination proves that in spite of claims to the contrary the radical right still has a stranglehold on the GOP, which seems to have seen it's last moderate about 25 years ago.
I am a Democrat, Darren....and I am well aware of the party leadership taking the Democratic Party down the leftist path. BTW..It's none of your business, Darren, but I voted for Hillary, ...she definitely was not a favorite, but, even so, I felt that she would be the best of the Democratic slate. Personally, I believe that Joe Lieberman is liberal....but I would vote for him if he was running. I will cast my ballot for McCain and for Senator Inhofe....Darren, it's been awhile since I could, in good conscience, vote a straight party ticket. ____Darren, go ahead....laugh at me, make fun of me...that is what our party does best these days..ridiculing others in order to build up the Democratic Party's failures and in order to tear down the opinions of those who oppose its present ideology. I won't laugh at you or make fun of you, Darren. That is not my style. I will suggest that you strive for a little objectivity. However, I know you will disregard anything I have to offer. You have made your disrespect for me and my opinions clear in the past and now again. Your viewpoint and mine obviously don't match. However, each of us should seek to examine our own opinions rather than simply exalting those we hold while trashing the other's. BTW/Nothing I said was that funny....your sense of humor leaves something to be desired, Darren. And...where were the scare tactics I used, Darren. Oh...surely it was that I referred to some powerful people in the Democratic Party as being extremely liberal and to the far left. Well...now that you mention it, that is scary. ____As for Hillary replacing Senator Biden....I did say that was a rumor. I may be a Democrat, but, obviously, I am out of the loop and would not have any inside information. Would Obama...would the DNC be really so bold and so desperate? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........well, maybe, maybe not. _____p.s. You misunderstood what I was saying, Darren. If that rumor should come to fruition, I don't feel that Hillary would make the ticket more left of center than Senator Biden makes it, Darren....but, again, we would still have a heavy concentration of liberals in positions of power both in the administration and the legislature._____Again, I'll vote for McCain who often more the Democrat than not...and for Senator Inhofe. And...YES...Darren, I DO like Gov. Sarah Palin. So...LAUGH all you want ...for I won't be responding to your next round on ridicule. This the last laugh I will throw your way.... but I feel sure your response will be a hoot! They always are!
Brock says--
"A vote for Rice is a vote for Obama and his preference of Marxism Theology"
Lie. There's nothing remotely Marxist about Obama, and this McCarthism was discredited 50 years ago. calling everyone who's even a little liberal a commie was wrong then, and stupid now.
"blaming America,"
Lie. He's not blaming America, he's leading America in a better way out of love of country.
"nothing inspirational,"
I find him far more inspirational than McCain, and so do many millions of Americans.
"sacrifice of the individual,"
Say WHAT?? What sort of nonsense is that?
"higher taxes"
For the extremely wealthy.
"and doing with less)"
If you're a millionaire.
"no energy independence"
Hilariously false. Energy independence is FAR more attainable with Democratic leadership in alternative fuels and conservation than the the GOP's answer, "Drill, baby, drill" repeated ad nausium like Children of the corn.
"Drilling for the abundant energy source known as oil"
Lie. Calling the oil the GOP wants to wreck the environment going after "abundant" is like saying John McCain could play for the New York Knicks. Beyond silly.
"is last on his list,"
Where is should be.
"clean coal and nuclear energy aren't even mentioned)"
Because they shouldn't be.
"and abortion as well as infancticide(killing of live babys that live through an abortion) will be promoted."
Lie. They'll not only NOT be promoted, abortions go DOWN during Democratic leadership because we reduce unwanted pregnancies. Simply banning them does nothing but treat women like second-class citizens and violate their rights.
"These issues only touch the surface that properly portray Rice as a leftist, socialist liberal"
Proving how downright stupid these red-baiters are, almost NONE of the issues you mention are economic...SOCIALISM IS AN ECONOMIC THEORY! YOU CAN'T HAVE SOCIALISTIC ABORTION POLICY, OR SOCIALISM IN ENERGY POLICY! Good grief, you guys don't know what the word MEANS but you hear it all day on hate radio and go around parroting it.
"who is not a true representative of Oklahoma values."
The values of this state, that a person should be able to work and earn a living for their family get decent health care fair taxation and equality are represented by the Democratic Party.
C, PV shows once again the hilarious dittohead habit of calling ANY Democrat "extremely liberal" "far left" or "socialist." Now HARRY FREAKIN' REID is "extreme liberal"? That's hysterical! The guy's moderate, centrist, far LESS liberal than many of the nation's Democrats. He's only "extreme liberal" compared to you and the rest of the far right. Pelosi? She's a liberal, sure. Extreme? Not on your life. Calling Obama "extreme left of center" is also hogwash, again you bet he's a liberal, but "extreme"? Not even close. You get Dennis Kusinich nominated, and you're getting CLOSE to "extreme." Barrack Obama? Extreme? That's a laugh.
Then you had me falling off my chair with this idiotic "he'll drop out for Hillary" rumor saying THAT would be "extremely left of center" which is so wrong it's just plain hysterical. Hillary Clinton is a moderate Democrat, a centrist, not "extremely left of center" but in fact FAR closer to the center than anyone in Republican leadership today. You guys used to have some folks fairly close to center, like the Rockefeller types, and the Reagan "revolution" drove them out. Now it's only conservative and more conservative and radical right allowed.
Using these silly scare tactics and foolish mistruths to excuse supporting one of the worst Senators in our nation is astonishing. Inhofe's an embarrassment.
Actually, Oklahoma has been well represented by Senator Inhofe. While it may be true that a majority of those posting on this discussion are against him, the majority of Oklahomans and this state have been well represented by Senator Inhofe. ______Personally, I do not like the ads being run by either candidate. I don't feel the ads are tasteful. ...much too negative. However, the ads probably do not seem distasteful to many of those who have left comments here because many of the posts made are quite negative and in poor taste, as well. Senator Inhofe has done a good job for Oklahoma and for this nation. We need him in Washington. For the most part, the legislative branch of government has veered much too far to the left and we need to maintain some kind of balance in order to keep sound the ideology that makes America, America. We have Senator Reid in the leadership role in the Senate and Representative Pelosi as Speaker of the House....both are extreme liberals. We have Senator Obama seeking the presidency and Sen. Biden on his ticket...that is a slate that is extremely left of center...after all, Senator Obama has the #1 liberal voting record in the Senate. And..if the rumors are true and Biden feigns health issues and steps down to make a "shock and awe" VP candidate entry possible for Senator Hillary Clinton (I believe her liberal voting rank is #13) ...we still have a top heavy leftist government. Our three branches of government are to serve as a check and balance of power. We need representation which will counter the trend to the extreme left. We have that in our Oklahoma delegation. And....those of you who find that non-representative of your own positions should take into consideration that it is very likely that you are out of step with a majority of your fellow Oklahomans.
You have lost your Christianity V, if you ever had religion in the first place ! You are way to vile and mean-spirited and judgemental, your posts prove it. You claimed the high "moral" road and lost your way Ms. V ! You are good for a few laughs though! Ha! Ha !
Lanny:T-PV, I bet you are 100 % moral, in public anyway !You self-appointed and self-annointed moralists that thump your Bible and crow about values are the real deal slack-jawed, self-righteous hypocrites ! Now, as I read this you could not compare your spirituality or morals with a goat or a dog or a pig. It is not your fault it is your parents fault for not teaching you right from wrong and giving you moral fortitude. Your father probably left when you were very young and your mother has probably been with many males so you automatically think that all of that is ok. You are not alone. 70-80 percent of the families today are without fathers. That creates children that have no morales and don't understand right from wrong. So your not alone Lanny.
Lanny: I am glad you posted on this blog. People like you are a disease to our society. It is people like you (with no morals) that make mothers and dads worry about their children. You should have been taught morals as a child unless your mother and father also had no morals. You are not human if you have no morals. You are a disease ridden individual so go back under your rock and keep your sick diseased views to yourself.
T-PV, I bet you are 100 % moral, in public anyway !You self-appointed and self-annointed moralists that thump your Bible and crow about values are the real deal slack-jawed, self-righteous hypocrites !
You really shouldn't be talking about YOUR next president that way and his running mate will be Hilary Clinton when Biden steps down on Oct 5th. I may be ignorant but you are going to be under a Democrat rule for the next 8 years and every Republican deserves it for allowing a maggot like Bush to be voted into office. The guy is a criminal and will be treated that way as soon as he is out of office. I predict him and Chaney both will be tried for war crimes and lying to congress. You need to watch congress in action on C-Span and you may see what is really going on. Republicans have failed and it is time for them to move aside and let the professionals get us out of this mess they have created. VOTE DEMOCRAT IN NOVEMBER for a better AMERICA. T you are an idiot and probably a loser Republican. They should take your right to vote away from you because you are an ignorant person that is to dumb tohave your vote counted. I believe you to be blind and deaf if you can't see the problems these Republican have caused our society.
V, Bad Economy? You must believe what the Communist News Network (CNN) puts out. Obviously you do NOT research on your own. Jobs are up (proven fact), wages are up (proven fact). The only BAD points to the economy is what the Democrat Congress has RUINED since they took over!!!!! Check out the timeline of when they took over and now. Over all, all indexes show that we are better off now than the Carter Administration and CLINTON Administration. Check out the FACTS before you spout your ignorance!
What is the issue with the war..jess? We have an ALL VOLUNTEER MILITARY! It is OUR business!!!!!! All these anti war idiots are OUT OF TOUCH. They had a purpose during other wars when we had NO volunteer military. They have NO voice now...because WE WANT THE WAR BECAUSE IT WILL KEEP US FREE!!!!!!!!!! All anti-war idiots can freaking LEAVE the good ol'e US of A. We do NOT want you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You SUCK ALL MOMENTUM from our drive to keep our Nation safe.
Chris: Didn't say I hated it in our country I said if you vote another sleeze bag Republican into office be ready for 4-8 more years of misery. You must be a Republican sleeze bag if you cannot see how the Republicans have ruined this economy. Keep voting for them dummy. You Republican sleeze bags are in for a suprise when the Democrats run congress and have a presidentin office. Paybacks are hell. Finaly we will have professionals in office to straighten out this mess the Republicans have made. Good riddance.
Actually we need to start thinking like we did in the fifties. The dollar was worth a dollar. There were no drugs and gangs on the streets. There was hardly any crime and criminals feared the law. Family values were in place and our country was a safe place to live and raise a family. Jobs were available for everyone and no one needed health insurance because people could afford to pay for the services. Our government listened to the citizens and understood the constitution. No one knew what a gay person was so they didn't even think that way. Family values and honesty are the only important items we have as humans. In the fifties if there were gay people they would surely keep their agenda quite and hope no one found out about it. Going bacck to the fifties would open the eyes of people who have no family values because these type of people would be ask to leave town and never come back. Businesses would not cater to these no value type people and they would have to go elsewhere for food clothing and shelter. The gay agenda would not have been accepted in those days.
V...If you hate it that much MOVE to Europe! Anyway, yes I am better off that I was 4 years ago...I consider my self middle class ($50K a year). I am a Republican and proud of it, I don't approve of everything they do in the Republican party or the Democrat party. I will be voting for the person who I think will do the best job. I never have voted straight party, that is the reason I love this country I can vote for anyone I please. The economy can be blamed on both parties the Democrats are in control of Congress and the Republicans in the White House. Don't even start with the Democrats have only been in control of Congress for 2 years. When they took over Congress the gas prices were $1.80 a gallon now what are they? Despite all the ills of the economy I'm still better off than 4 years ago...no I didn't get into a loan over my head. Is it the Republicans fault that people making $30,000 a year got a loan for a house that cost $300,000? Vote how you want, but don't belittle someone else for voting how they want!
This state amazes me sometimes. We have real problems that need to be addressed, the war, economy, oil... And our candidates are throwing mud about gay marriage and abortion! I hate watching Oklahoma campaigns as they are stuck on "values and family". Let's get to the real issues that effect this state and country. These people want to put up a smoke screen to hide their real agenda because they know abortion and gay marriage or easy hot buttons. These issues should be the last thing. I'm not a republican or demecrate, I am for the person that represents what I think will be better for our state and country. We need to get out of this 1950s thinking and stop voting for your party, and vote for the person and what they represent.
What's the matter Rufus? Do gays make you feel uncomfortable or threaten you ? I went to school with gays and I have worked with gays and I appreciate their contributions to our country.
If they vote another Republican into office our country and our way of life is over. Pretty soon no one will own a home or be able to buy a vehicle because of the way the banks are going to score your credit history. Every credit score in the country is going to be lowered. Interest rates on allloans will be higher and everyone buying a home or vehicle will have to have about 30% to put down. This will eliminate about 80% of the citizens from owning a home and maybe even a vehicle. Banks will now control all major purchases and will not bend any rules when loaning money for high ticket items. I believe this senario was designed by the Republicans and their bid to control the middle class. Go ahead and vote in another Republican, especially you middle class Republicans, and see what happens to your savings accounts and lifestyle. If you are not wealthy these people (Republican) could care less if you live or die or eat or starve. Let's vote in these Republicans so we can suffer another 4 or 8 years and let them get even a stronger grip on our lifestyles. Vote Republican and live with it.
The amazing thing about this wonderful country is we can say just about anything about those running for Congress and our state legislature without fear of retribution. This right was given to us by our great Constitution. No, I'm not a liberal—never have been. I believe John McCain will by a landslide, however, I also believe that there are enough families affected by autism in this state that the Republicans in our local elections will not win by riding on McCain's coattails. A vote for Rice is not a vote for Obama. That is what is great about our country. I can vote for McCain/Palin and still vote for Rice. Requiring insurance companies to cover a medical condition that is more prevalent than all pediatric cancers, diabetes, and Aids COMBINED and more prevalent than Polio at the height of the polio epidemic is not socialism. It is obvious the free enterprise concept is actually allowing insurance companies to discriminate against the most venerable members of our society. Children with special needs. God I love this country. And Nick’s Law is going to pass this next session. Robyne Rohde Mommy to Austin and Nicholas (Nick’s Law).
J: It is starting tolook like the Republicans need a new way of thinking. Get ready for a Democratic president and a democratic congress. A child could do better than the people we have in office now. Way to go Republicans. Nice job.
Hey J, we DID need the Gov't this week to bail out the country according to George W Bush. Wow ,what a conservative, he doubled the National Debt in 8 yrs. to 11 TRILLION dollars ! Socialism ? Ha.
Rice is very liberal-Inhofe is very conservative.Inhofe has a huge lead.Oklahoma is a conservative state and BHO and Rice will do poorly.BO is down by almost 40%.
In the words of another Republican: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" Foreclosures, increasing national debt, Wall Street in a shambles, a war that was declared over still raging, and a country still overly dependent on oil from the middle east. I don't think we are.
Brock, living Beaver what the hell do you know about Gene Stipe? Come on into the 21st century. Yes, there are black people here but you'll get used to it.
If Republicans in this state vote Republican this time around then they are ignorant and have no business voting in any elections. Any Republican vote would be a vote to allow the total destruction of our economy and way of life. Even a dumb Republican should be able to see what their party has done over the last eight long years.
McCain is only called a "maverick" because he has shown the propensity to adopt Democrat Party views against the ideology of the Republicans. That's no maverick if you ask me. A maverick is Tom Coburn and Ron Paul. But since they don't agree with either party on the issues, they aren't called mavericks. It's kind of funny. But Democrats need to get ready to have their heads lifted in Oklahoma this election cycle.
I'm beginning to believe that Bill Mahr (sp) is right! The American public is stupid! When anyone cannot see how the republican party is destroying this country, they are either stupid or blind. And by-the-way, this comes from a "card-carrying republican" for over 30 years. Inhofe is an IDIOT! End of story. And anyone who thinks that John McCain is a "maverick" only has to look at how he caved in to the neo-cons, abandoned his actual pick for VP and continues to let them run his campaign. I really held him in MUCH higher regard. It saddens me to see what they have done to him.
You just have to love Andrew Rice. He is just another spoiled brat rich kid who could have cared less about politics until he had to sit through a liberal professor's government class. Now he is a crusader who has to right all the supposed wrongs in America. If he had, any commons sense he would realize we do not need the government to save the world. Rice and Obama are a bad combination for Oklahoma. Neither have any leadership experience. Both men are just of couple of puppets being manipulated by the same lazy tax and spend Democrats that are in power today. The Democrats need to develop a new way of thinking. They need to realize you cannot solve every problem by raising taxes, handing out free money and taking power from the people.
It's just like Inhofe to twist someone's voting record to portray them in some bad light. He's spent 41 years on the public payroll (state legislature and in D.C.), so why wouldn't he resort to unethical campaign practices? If people really are tired of the Washington crowd here is their chance to vote one out. As for Rice, good grief...since when is a man who worked as a Christian missionary not in keeping with Oklahoma values?
The only reason the Democrats voted for the war is because the President and Vice President lied about wmd and germ warfare stockpiles. Lying to Congress is a crime and Congress is going to put these Republican liars on trial for their crimes as soon as they leave office. Bush and Cheney are the culprits here and they are Republican culprits. The last post sounds like a Republican wanting to blame someone else for the problems the problems that they have caused the citizens in this country. It will take this country forever to dig out of the whole the Republicans have dug for this nation and I hope that Bush and Cheney both do time in the Federal Pen for their crimes. Congress is making their case on them as we write here. The president and vise president and all of their cronies will pay for the lies and the destruction of the economy of this country.
Anyhting good or bad attributed to Pres. Bush would not have passed without the help of Dems. To blame Bush is one thing but to blindly blame it only on Repubs is being a mind numbed robot for your party. The biggest problem to the economy in my humble opinion is the Iraq war, it has seen a vast amount of the nations resources sent overseas. The war has also forced speculators to run up the value of oil. The OK for Bush to send troops was not given by only Repubs - but would never have passed without Dems giving their numbers in the vote. The only way I see the country changing for the better is for voters to quit blindly following their parties choices in all voting - time to think - not to say ALL dems are wrong or ALL repubs are wrong. Their are more parties out there - I agree w/Katie - I never vote for incumbents - once elected their sole purpose for living is to be re-elected.
The incumbents that are going out, ARE the good ole boys of the past. The Democrats, aka the Gene Stipe corruption mentality are the ones losing seats in our legislature. With this continuing trend, finally we can address some of the problems that have festered too long becuase of Democrat control since statehood.
Another 4 years of Republicans in office will totally ruin the US if it is not ruined already. If the Republicans cannot admit to this failure then this country needs to rid itself of the 2 party system and start a socialist government. The Republicans almost have us in that situation at this point anyway. Don't you people realize that they have almost placed us into a depression. Are Republican that stupid? I guess they must be.
Rice will be defeated by Inhofe with the largest margin in Oklahoma history. Rice will suffer the most lopsided loss ever. McCain's coattails will cause several "favored" Democrats to lose. This election will set Oklahoma Democrats as a permanent minority for the next 30 years.
"V, the only "sleeze bag" is that anti-christian,"
Lie. He is a Christian, and doesn't hate Christians or anything they stand for.
"jew hating,"
Lie. He's not said anything remotely anti-Jew.
"white hating,"
Lie. This came from the vicious attacks on his former minister, who said NOTHING that was hateful towards whites, but only hateful towards racism and slavery.
And he ain't running for president.
"America hating,"
Dispicable, unAmerican lie. This practice of saying "you hate America unless you're on the far right" is, in fact, as unAmerican as possible. This sleazy lie isn't intended to take people who might vote for Obama and get them to vote for McCain...it's to get them to vote for NOBODY, to drive down the vote, keep them at home...nothing could be more unAmerican.
"race biting"
First off, it's "Race-baiting." Secondly, that's a sick, racist term like "race card" which says that "blacks trying to fight for equality are just playing games because racism doesn't exist."
And the hypocrisy of you calling Obama "white hating" then talking about "race baiting" is glaring and obvious.
"sleeze bag Obama."
Speaking of hypocrisy...a pack of sleazy lies while claiming the person who is NONE of these things is "sleaze."
This question never gets answered, but it must be asked again...
IF WHAT OBAMA REALLY IS, AND REALLY STANDS FOR, IS SO BAD, WHY DO WE GET THESE CONSTANT VICIOUS PERSONAL ATTACKS AND SLANDEROUS LIES?
stinkerpants: Look at how the Republicans handled things the past eight long long years goofy. They have totally ruined our economy and it may take a few liberals to pull our butts out of it. Republicans need to go into the closet and stay there until the Democrats can thing back in order in this country. The hole the Republicans have us in will take a long time to dig out of. I would be ashamed if I were a Republican.
Yep, wee-doggies. Look at the okie-dokie cousin marryers all come out of the wood work on cue, crying "liberal! liberal!" about Rice. Except, they pronounce it "Liburrrl! Liburrrl!" That is, when they arent' eating deep-fried possum and guzzling 3.2 crap beer. "Liburrrl! Liburrrl!" Hey, hicks--you found the right paper. Hee-haw!
stinkerpants, Oklahoma City - Sep 21, 2008 10:41 AM
Amen, Lanez, just look at Oklahoma's rank on everything from health care, poverty, incarceration in prisons, education funding, teenage pregnancy, incest and roads, etc. Real Oklahoma values would address these issues with sound public policy but instead these Tom Delay, RX King Rush Limbaugh and Larry Craig clones( Inhofe, etc.) spew out and parrot their favorite phrases like family values, infantcide, and Socialists, etc. They are eager to send our young men and women off to die in boneheaded invasions based on lies and forgeries according to their own Presidential Press Sec'y though. Abortions, as undesirable as they are, have always happened and sending these women back to the closets and fake Dr's with clothes hangers, etc. is not real appealing either. Rape and incest is a no-brainer for a woman's choice.
I'm so tired of the "Oklahoma values" rhetoric. Another ploy by the religious right to throw barbs at those who don't adhere to those same beliefs. Last time I checked, Oklahomans were a folk who believed in hard work and helping one's neighbors. Inhofe has done little but line his own pockets with lobbyist money and play with the big ole boys. He's been an outright embarrassment to this state. Rice does work, and will continue to work for people who have real needs in their lives. Who has Oklahoma values now? Go, Andrew, Go!
Aside to c/OKC ... sounds like "Robyne" is a well-known mom who is trying to do the right thing by her children. Ever hear of Megan's Law? How about Amber Alerts? I have three children, and I support "Robyne" and her well-known maternal activism.
Oklahoma politics is all about the Good Old Boys. If you are a Good Old Boy and run for office here you will probably win. If your not a Good Old Boy and happen to win the Good Old Boys will come after you. The whole state is controlled by these Good Old Boys and it trickles down through the businesses. Until Oklahoma voters do something about it it will always be a who you know state and not a what you know state. The Good Old Boy system is ruining the State of Oklahoma.
Inhofe is a crook and a scumbag. He's never accomplished a thing in the senate except make himself a millionaire. He is a disgrace and an embarassment to Oklahoma. He needs to be sent back to Oklahoma. Go Andrew!!!
A vote for Rice is a vote for Obama and his preference of Marxism Theology(blaming America, nothing inspirational, sacrifice of the individual, higher taxes and doing with less) no energy independence(Drilling for the abundant energy source known as oil is last on his list, clean coal and nuclear energy aren't even mentioned) and abortion as well as infancticide(killing of live babys that live through an abortion) will be promoted. These issues only touch the surface that properly portray Rice as a leftist, socialist liberal who is not a true representative of Oklahoma values.
OMG, now people can't even write things in support of their candidates? PLANTED BY RICE SUPPORTERS ... what a brilliant (cough cough) line. I'm glad I've got a LIBERAL arts education ... I'm afraid the conservatives cut the arts long ago. XD
I certainly hope that anyone reading this DRIVEL down here understands it was PLANTED BY RICE SUPPORTERS. "Robyne" is a well-known liberal activist. Forcing autism coverage in everyone's
