ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Central Florida knows the conference situation it was expecting to enter this season isn't the one it will find when 2013 kicks off later this month.
Still, Knights coach George O'Leary says that hasn't at all affected his excitement about his 10th season in Orlando.
Coming off a 10-win season in 2012, UCF is playing for an automatic berth in the Bowl Championship Series for the first time in its history. Graduation dealt the Knights' defense a big blow, but they return an offense that O'Leary calls the most explosive he's had, led by redshirt junior quarterback Blake Bortles.
Also to play are chances to put the program on the national map with road matchups against Penn State and Louisville, along with a rekindled matchup with in-state rival South Florida.
