LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — IOC President Thomas Bach says he is impressed with the international cycling federation's efforts to stamp out doping.

The IOC says UCI President Brian Cookson and other officials from cycling's governing body met Bach in Lausanne on Wednesday and briefed him on measures "to protect the clean athletes and the integrity of the sport of cycling."

Cookson was elected UCI president last year, ousting Pat McQuaid. He assigned an independent panel to investigate the sport's doping past and any collusion by the governing body.

Bach says the UCI's efforts "to protect their sport from manipulation of any kind, in particular doping" were "indeed impressive."

Bach says they also discussed the UCI's contributions to Olympic Agenda 2020, his blueprint for the future of the Olympic movement.
