MONROE, La. (AP) — Louisiana-Monroe athletic director Brian Wickstrom says he's removing the "interim" tag from baseball coach Bruce Peddie's job title.

Peddie's promotion to permanent status comes after 28 games with the interim title. He's gone 14-14 since taking over a club that started 8-17.

This marks Peddie's second Division I head coaching job. However, his first came with New Orleans when that school's athletic program was in turmoil several years after Hurricane Katrina and operating under a since-abandoned plan to downgrade to Division III.

In 2013, shortly after New Orleans had recommitted to remaining in Division I, Peddie was fired and replaced by former longtime Privateers coach Ron Maestri.

Before coming to New Orleans, Peddie spent 11 seasons at Shippensburg (Pa.), leading that program to a Division II College World Series appearance.
