ORONO, Maine (AP) — Maine senior quarterback Marcus Wasilewski is thanking fans for the big turnout at the school's first-ever home playoff game.
The top passing quarterback in Black Bear history said he and his teammates will always cherish the atmosphere of the game even though it ended with a New Hampshire win. He said the fan base and the team have the potential "to be something really special."
The playoff game at Alfond Stadium drew a nearly 8,000 fans, the biggest in nine year.
As for Wasilewski, he finished the year with 3,238 yards through the air, the best in program history. He also finished sixth in career yards even though he only started for two seasons.
