In “Democrats get ready for convention” (News, Sept. 2), Lorenzo Allen Thompson is quoted as saying, “Democrats need to assert the principles of the Democratic Party: the party that stands for rights for everybody.” Are we then to determine those victims of one of the greatest holocausts in the history of mankind, the aborted children of American citizens, will never get the protection of their rights from the Democrats?
I understand how folks can choose to support the rest of President Barack Obama's socialist agenda under the guise of the Democratic Party platform. What escapes me is why people who profess to be concerned for the health and welfare of all people continue to support legalized murder. I believe the “good” folks of the Democratic Party could make a difference in this country by taking back the grassroots platforms and push for equal representation of all people, to throw off the chains of the special interest groups and “political correctness” of those who aren't sure what to believe. Oh, and the Republican Party could make the difference it's been promising for years if it quits promising and starts doing.
