The United Way of Central Oklahoma kicked off the United Way Pacesetter Campaign Thursday with its annual Pacesetter Games on the lawn at American Fidelity.
Pacesetters are businesses and organizations that run early United Way campaigns between June and September and set the tone for more than 1,500 workplace campaigns that will take place in the fall. Funds raised through workplace giving help fund local programs that are addressing the community’s most critical needs.
The island-themed event was emceed by 2014 United Way Campaign Chairman Carl Edwards, of Price Edwards & Co., and Pacesetter Chairman David Rainbolt, of BancFirst.
Pacesetter companies contributed about 29 percent of all United Way dollars raised in 2013.
