EDMOND — The University of Central Oklahoma’s Stampede Week starts Monday and continues through Aug. 26.
The Broncho tradition signals the start of a new school year, bringing UCO students together to connect with the campus and community.
This year’s festivities will feature the music of SoMo, an R&B and pop singer-songwriter from Texas, and Josh Sallee, an Oklahoma City rapper and UCO alumnus, at 8 p.m. Aug. 19.
New this year is Freshman Convocation, set for 5 p.m. Aug. 17, at which UCO President Don Betz will welcome the class of 2018. A picnic will follow with giveaways including $2,018 in scholarships.
“The beginning of the school year is one of the most exciting times to be on campus,” said Kay Robinson, director of student engagement. “Stampede Week is an opportunity for new students to connect to the university and develop some of the lifelong friendships that will shape their college experiences.”
Stampede Week events are free and open to UCO students, faculty and staff with a valid ID.
