— University of Central Oklahoma students took a break from moving in to do some dancing and sitting in a kiddie pool.

There also was some sliding in the water as students enjoyed Water Wars and an ice cream social as part of move-in week activities that continue through Wednesday, which is also the day Stampede Week activities begin.

More than 1,700 students live on the campus at 100 N University Drive.

Josh Overocker, UCO director of housing and dining, said statistics show students earn better grades and get more involved in campus activities when they live on campus.

“You will make lifelong friendships and build a support system for success while living on campus,” Overocker said.

Students started moving in Saturday. They will continue to arrive on campus through Sunday. Classes start Monday.

In a new activity this year, students will join in an Amazing Race, a scavenger hunt throughout campus to help them learn where things are located. The race starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
