EDMOND — Instructional fitness programs are being offered this fall at the University of Central Oklahoma Wellness Center. Classes for the community will start in September.
Instructional programs are noncredit fitness classes that provide personal enrichment, training and skill-building.
The programs are taught by certified instructors to provide opportunities to UCO students, faculty and staff and members of the Edmond community to engage in fitness programs.
This fall’s classes include:
Krav Maga, 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 8 to Oct. 13, emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques and realistic training scenarios that will strengthen your body, sharpen your mind and transform your life.
S.A.S. (Strengthen, Affirm and Stretch), 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 8-29, provides a positive environment to strengthen every major muscle group and help you connect the mind and body via affirmations, awareness and stretching.
Belly dancing, 5 to 6 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 14 to Oct. 5, focuses on developing correct posture alignment, flexibility, arm positions and paths, fundamental shimmies, basic hip accents, introductory undulations, and easy-to-follow steps and combinations.
Eras of Dance: Hip-hop From Yesterday and Today, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 21 to Oct. 12, takes a trip through time to master hip-hop dancing from various eras.
The deadline to sign up for Krav Maga and S.A.S. is Sept. 5. Registration for belly dancing is Sept. 11, and the final day to sign up for Eras of Dance is Sept. 18.
