University of Central Oklahoma's online programs restored Friday

Desire2Learn, an online education portal, experienced outages for several days this week. Colleges and universities across Oklahoma and nationwide use the program to manage their online courses, as well as online components of classroom-based courses.

Sonya Watkins, assistant to the vice president for information and technology at UCO, said Friday afternoon that the portal was working again after being out since Wednesday.

The outage affected only customers who used the company's cloud-based data centers to host their online courses, said Virginia Jamieson, a spokeswoman for the Ontario-based company.

A number of other Oklahoma colleges and universities use the program, including the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma City University. Those universities weren't affected by the outage.
