University of Oklahoma art students exhibit works at Norman museum
NORMAN — A University of Oklahoma student's artwork titled “Coordinate Retriever” will become a part of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art's permanent collection.
Jessica Tankersley was awarded the T.G. Mays Purchase Award during an opening reception Friday for the 99th annual School of Art and Art History Student Exhibition.
The purchase award is the exhibition's top honor.
Tankersley is a senior from Tulsa who specializes in multimedia art. On her website, Tankersley says her work reflects a desire to understand how and why a life mediated by technology is changing what it means to be human.
Tankersley was among numerous student winners honored during the opening reception.
The exhibition will continue through Feb. 10.
Admission to the museum at 555 Elm Ave. is complimentary, thanks to a recent gift from the OU Athletics Department.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
