University of Oklahoma welcomes top-ranked student body in state history

— The University of Oklahoma welcomed the top-ranked student body for a public university in state history this fall.

During a convocation in August, OU President David Boren announced the university's students this year posted an average ACT score of 26.2 — barely edging out last year's average score of 26.1, which was the highest score of any public university in state history at the time.

OU offers more than 150 majors at three campuses across the state — the flagship campus in Norman, OU-Tulsa and the Oklahoma City-based OU Health Sciences Center.

Last year, the university announced it would begin offering free admission to the on-campus Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art.

That move came after an announcement that the athletic department would donate $60,000 to the museum. Museum officials said they thought the relationship between the athletics department and the museum was the first of its kind in the country.
